Nike and Your Privacy
When it comes to dealing with companies online, especially when conducting business, one should read that sites Privacy Policy. For Nike's Policy, they outline all major concerns consumers have when doing online business. They cover all bases starting with the information you give them and what they plan to do with that information. Nike does have devices that have GPS technology and Nike does say that they collect that information and share it within the "Nike Family" and use it to better market to that person. This allows Nike to market on a more personal level but they do give the user the option to opt out of that service. When making purchases through Nike they do use a third party some of the time, in which they let the buyer know, which to me is not a very safe thing as we do not read the policy of that third party. Nike does offer support for any concerns that customers can reach out to via phone or by email for any concerns you may have with doing business with Nike. There are not many companies that provide a whole department dedicated to go over the policy which is a really good thing Nike does. Over all Nike does keep the customers information for internal use, however Nike may disclose information upon governmental request, in response to a court order, when required by law, to enforce Nike policies, or to protect their or others' rights, property or safety. This is very common for most companies to include this in their Privacy Policy as the government can get warrants or may need to track the location of a criminal. I do believe that Nike does all they can when it comes to personally identifiable information, they could do more but in all honesty that would be really bad for their business as most of the information they use and or share is to find ways to better assist their customers. One thing they may do, is see that a person is running in some sort of race and they will then send emails in regards to up coming races so that the customer may sign up for that race, overall making it easier for the customer and making them feel apart of the Nike team!
